hai tex studio was established in Dallas’ Oak Cliff
area in 1986 as a co-op studio space for photo, video and
audio production. Graduates of North Texas State University’s
Music and Radio/TV/Film departments, Jim Flowers, Derek
Carroll and Andy Chiles were original partners, specializing
in photography,
video and audio respectively. The studio also served as
rehearsal space and recording facility for the band, hai
tex, of which
both Jim and Andy were members. Eventually, the space evolved
into a solely commercial audio production facility. From
the early to mid-90s Jim Koch and Mike Lovitt’s Opus
1 Productions was a business partner. During this time,
hai tex also became home to the band, Ooga Booga, Leaning
House Records and Killomatic Productions.
As the 90s ended, the studio began to evolve into its current
form as a private-project studio for musician/composers
Andy Chiles and Carlos Flood. hai tex Music is the recording
outlet
for compositions by Martin McCall, Rex Bozarth and Andy
Chiles. The instrumental soundtracks, Medication and Meditation,
by hai tex are its latest releases. CDs are available for
purchase on this website, and the music is available for
licensing for film, video and multimedia use.
